ECC served as the subcontractor responsible for the complete design-build delivery of the wood truss and siding systems in accordance with the project’s contract documents and specification requirements. Early in the project, ECC provided value engineering services to redesign the originally specified metal truss system into a wood truss assembly, achieving significant cost savings while maintaining all structural and architectural performance criteria. This design-build solution allowed the project to progress efficiently within budget and schedule constraints, benefiting both the client and the general contractor.
Under Division 06 – Wood, Plastics, and Composites, ECC’s scope included the design, fabrication, and installation of all engineered wood roof trusses, soffit and cornice framing, OSB sheathing, and soffit fireblocking. Structural tie-ins were completed to integrate new framing with existing assemblies, using all required connection hardware, hold-downs, and fasteners to ensure a complete and compliant system. ECC also furnished and installed composite columns at all new locations in accordance with architectural design intent.
Under Division 07 – Thermal and Moisture Protection, ECC furnished and installed a complete exterior envelope system consisting of rigid insulation, air barriers, James Hardie fiber-cement lap siding, z-girts, and fiberglass/composite trims at fasciae, cornices, soffits, windows, and doors. The scope also included sheet metal flashing, exterior expansion joint cover assemblies, and drainable water-resistant barriers. At the rear of the new mansard roof, ECC installed plywood sheathing, a water-resistant barrier, and vinyl siding with round louvers to match existing conditions.
Under Division 08 – Openings, ECC coordinated and installed all siding-related trim and detailing around doors and windows to achieve uniform transitions between new and existing conditions. Additional responsibilities included layout, field verification, scaffolding and staging, coordination with other trades, and adherence to strict material-handling procedures due to limited site laydown areas. All adjacent assemblies were protected throughout construction, with final cleaning and restoration performed upon completion.
The completed work provided a fully integrated, structurally sound, and weather-resistant exterior system that seamlessly tied into existing conditions. ECC’s proactive design-build approach and value-engineered truss redesign enhanced constructability, reduced cost, and accelerated project delivery—contributing directly to the client’s overall project success.
